Why Astoria’s 3030 Spin Studio Is the Hottest New Workout

It’s not difficult to see the drive in Deborah Eisenberg, owner of the new 3030 Spin Studios. Even as she speaks, she’s multitasking, noticing a bit of paint she doesn’t care for. It’s a busy time. 3030 Spin Studios has been open a handful of days, and there’s so much to do: harmonize the décor, meet with staff, process new member applications, pick up flyers from the printer, and so much more. “It’s such a new business. Between this place and that place I’m all over the place.”

Eisenberg is no stranger to the situation, however. “I have a community-based gym in [Long Island City]. I did teach spin many years ago. I love cardio, I love the community. Astoria doesn’t have a lot of spin, and I’ve heard people talk about it. I’ve met the most amazing group of people.”

Eisenberg understands the power of taking control of your health and fitness. “When I was really young, my life was a disaster,” she admitted. “I hated the way I felt about myself. I had ten dollars in my bank account. I told my dad, ‘I’m going to own a gym.’ I was told it was impossible.”

Despite time and obstacles, Eisenberg pursued her dream. “It took five years of finding loans and all that craziness; I was able to put it together. My members are awesome. We have a beautiful community there, and I want to build something like that in Astoria.”

And what does spin bring? It’s all about improving your mood and physical wellbeing through strategic cardio designed to help you push your limits. “With fitness, it’s all about feeling good, and looking good is a bonus,” Eisenberg explained.

The best part about spin, according to Eisenberg, is that it’s an individual sport with a social element. “You don’t have to worry about being faster, slower, better, stronger, just go at your own pace,” Eisenberg said. “No one really cares what resistance you’re on, so ride to your ability.”

Eisenberg is excited to for the future and the relationships that come from owning a business. “These people are my boss, and if they don’t like me, I’m out,” she said. “I’m really big on that. I’m huge on customer service. If I hear something, I’m going to look into it. I want people to talk to me. Some days you want to throw in the towel, but we don’t do that. We don’t quit. As I get older, I realize everything matters. Fitness saved my life.”
