Bikers Against Breast Cancer Ride
The word “Biker” may conjure up all sorts of images and stereotypes: tough, black leather, tattoos and facial hair and maybe even the hit show Sons of Anarchy. How about community, commitment, heart, and generosity? Perhaps not immediately, but SHAREing & CAREing’s experience with the Bikers we run with has been nothing short of an absolute pleasure. You see, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone whose life hasn’t been touched by a Cancer diagnosis – especially Breast Cancer.
Aficionados of Harley-Davidson and all things “Biker” are no different and they are committed and organized to doing something about it. For the past 21 years, New York City Harley Owners Group has organized and participated in Bikers Against Breast Cancer (or BABC) , a non-stop, police escorted, 50-mile ride through the boroughs of New York City. After many years of donating the proceeds of each event to a very large national cancer organization, the NYC HOGs approached SHAREing & CAREing. They wanted to share their fundraising with us so they would know exactly where the funds were going and what they were supporting.
Since 2010, BABC has raised a net profit of approximately $48,550 with this run. That’s $48,550 directly to SHAREing & CAREing which allows us to continue our mission of offering all our services free of charge.
This year’s ride will be on Sunday, June 7th:
* Registration: 9:00 am – 11:00 am @ Harley Davidson of New York City, 42-11 Northern Blvd. Long Island City, NY
* The ride starts at 11am
* Donations: Rider: $25; Passenger: $15
The ride starts at Harley Davidson of NYC in LIC and finishes at The Forest Park Bandshell. After the ride there will be a delicious lunch catered by Cascarino’s , live music from Steve Marshall Band, and biker games and trophies. The ride is open to riders and passengers on all two wheels.
