Astoria residents, you voted and the answers are in: there’s three projects that are being chosen for participatory budgeting endeavors. Here’s what they are:

1. Public school upgrades

Seven schools in the district will get tech upgrades worth $240,000

2. Dog Run

A dog run will be created at the currently vacant Lot C, located under the RFK bridge, totally $500,000.

3. Parking lot conversation

IS 126’s parking lot will be converted into a children’s playground, also costing $500,00.

The total for all three projects comes out to well over $1 million dollars – an extra $240,00. Councilmember Costa Constantinides said he will personally fund the remaining amount, allowing all three projects to be completed fully.

What do you think, Astoria? Are these the projects you voted for? Are you happy to see them funded? Let’s hear what you think!
