Locus Cafe Moving into Old Waltz-Astoria Space

We’re missing our beloved Waltz-Astoria, but it looks like the old home to the performance venue is taking up a new direction: a cafe and creperia.  The spot is called Locus Cafe, and is located at 23-14 Ditmars Blvd.

In 2014, we saw the opening of lots of new coffee shops, but we’re interested to see the spin that Locus puts on their new spot. Crepes are pretty tasty – but we’ve already got Yogurt La Crepe. It seems though, that the two have very different vibes – Locus seems like it would be a cool place to go with some friends for a coffee date.

They’ve put some pictures up, and it looks like they’re going for a dark, classic coffee shop vibe. Here’s what they posted on their Facebook page:

“Consisting of up-cycled and carefully self-hand crafted decor from the ground up, Locus will offer a warm & welcoming environment to its patrons while serving up espresso products (cold brew, french press etc), fresh health oriented juices and smoothies, crepes (sweet, savory, gluten free) and baked goods (bagels, muffins etc). Customers that choose to stay and relax a bit can enjoy complimentary popcorn, board games, various books that can be grabbed directly from the shelves, crossword puzzles and of course, WiFi.

This isn’t your typical run of the mill cafe or crepe joint! Come solo or grab the gang, bring a pen or crayons, a sketchbook or homework, your favorite story or one to share.. But definitely, bring a smile!”

So far, it looks really interesting. We’re excited to see it when it opens – and you know we’ll bring you exclusive details!
