Boxtrolls Preview in Astoria!

If you have kids – or if you grew up reading The Boxtrolls like I did – you’re probably excited about the new movie coming out!

Here’s some info on the film:

Based on the book Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow. LAIKA, the animation studio behind the Academy Award-nominated films Coraline and ParaNorman, returns with a new stop-motion, hand-drawn, and CG hybrid feature—shot on-site in 3-D—about a community of fantastical creatures living beneath the streets of a Victorian-era town. The Boxtrolls exist harmoniously in the amazing cavernous home they have built from scavenged odds and ends, wearing recycled cardboard boxes the way turtles wear their shells. Among their family is an 11-year-old boy, Eggs, who was raised since infancy by the creatures. When the Boxtrolls’s world is threatened by a power play among the humans above, Eggs must venture “into the light,” where he meets and teams up with a girl, the feisty Winnie. Together they devise a plan and embark on a grand adventure to save their friends.
