Flo Lounge: The Prettiest Little Lounge There Ever Was

If we were to sum up Flo Lounge and Restaurant in one word, it would be BEAUTIFUL. You guys. Flo is absolutely gorgeous. On a block filled with restaurants, this corner oasis stands out in a major way.

Flo Lounge Bar

Flo Lounge Bar

Opened by Chris Minadakis and his partner George in 2005, Flo has quickly become one of the premier restaurants in Astoria. Can we keep talking about how pretty it is? They’ve got everything from chandeliers, to big, comfy chairs, to four different seating areas that each have their own feel. Flo has all the high class, modern feel of a Manhattan lounge, but none of the pretentious vibes. Plus, there’s a parking lot right across the street, which is literally the best thing ever.

The bar is fully stocked with every type of drink you could want, and it’s a great place to sit and catch up with a friend. Cool fact: if you glance down you’ll see famous books designed into the wood of the bar. Who doesn’t like to drink while sitting next to The Odyssey?

The feel of Flo changes depending on when you’re there. We stopped by in the day time, and Flo would easily be our first choice as a business lunch or weekend brunch– the large windows make for a bright, comfortable atmosphere. As for the weekends? Flo  gets FUN. Weekend nights see Flo is strictly 21 and up, and there’s a reason why. Flo comes to life as a full fledged lounge, playing the latest House music until the late hours of the night.

Now, let’s get to the food. They’ve got the classics like Penne a la Vodka and Fried Calamari, but what Flo really shines in is their Sushi and Whole Fish Bronzini. We know, we know, it seems unorthodox to have sushi somewhere that’s not an authentic sushi spot, but believe us, it was worth it. The Bronzini is cooked to perfection, and falls apart in your mouth so amazingly delicately.

Flo can whip up  any cocktail you want, but one of their stars is the Lychee Martini. Seriously, whoever invented this drink deserves a hug. And Flo deserves two. We grabbed some margaritas, and they were flawless.

If we had a choice, we’d absolutely go back to Flo. For weekend brunch…and lunch…and dinner…and honestly, probably happy hour, too.  The ambiance is just so enticing! We can’t wait for the weather to warm up, because there’s a back room WITH A RETRACTABLE ROOF THAT IS SO AWESOME.

Oh, and don’t forget to look up.
