Auntie Eli’s Tuesday Treat: Cinnamon Buns!

Cinnamon Buns

Ingredients

  • Dough
  • 1 cup milk
  • 50 grGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. butter
  • 3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 15 grGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. fresh yeast or 5 grGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. instant yeast
  • 1/2 tspGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. salt

Filling

  • 100 grGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. butter softened
  • 2 cups soft brown sugar
  • 5 tbspGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. cinnamon

Topping

  • 1 cup icing sugar

Method

First, make the topping by whisking the ingredients together until smoothGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Put in the fridge until neededGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Start the dough by melting together the milk with butter on low heatGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. In a separate bowl add 1 1/2 cups of the flour with the sugar, egg, yeast and saltGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Whisk until well combinedGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. 

Gradually add the milk mixture into the flour mixtureGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. For this next step you will need the hook attachmentGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. If you are kneading the dough, use the folding methodGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Gradually add the remaining 2 cups of flour until the dough formsGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Continue kneading it for 2 minutes on a floured surface and place it in a well-greased bowlGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Cover the bowl and set it aside in a warm area for 30 minutes until almost double in sizeGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Remove from bowl on a floured surface and roll out into a largeGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. 

Spread the softened butter all over the doughGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. In a bowl mix together the sugar with the cinnamon and spread over the butterGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Now here’s the tricky partGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. With both hands, grab the sides of the dough furthest from you and start to roll it inwards towards youGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. After every roll, stretch the dough upwards and roll againGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028. Continue this movement until you come to the endGive_Me_Astoria_image_00028.
