Maison Mekong

If you’re looking for Southeast Asian cuisine, your calls have been answered. On the corner of 36th street lies Maison Mekong, a new but popular restaurant. Whether it be an exciting drink or a delicious meal, anything you get will leave you craving more. Their signature drinks, including passion fruit, mango, and lychee tea slushies pair perfectly with their menu, which is vast. Classic dishes such as pho, kra pow kai dao, and butter shrimp are featured, with extra praise for their shaking beef dish: strip loin cubes stir-fried with garlic and onions in a savory brown sauce. Concerned about prices? Don’t worry, they also have a lunch special to keep you satisfied, on a budget. From Monday to Friday, 11 AM to 3 PM, you can make your own bowl served with cucumber, tomato, pickled onion, and more with your choice of a side, starting at just 14 dollars.

Mrs Georgia

Mrs Georgia is bringing traditional Georgian flavors to the heart of Astoria. This new spot has everything: comfort, incredible food, tasty drinks, and kind-hearted workers. Their food is both affordable and generously portioned. The menu includes bakery dishes, soups, sides, hot dishes, cold salads and more. With their countless delicious meals like shkmeruli, chicken in a tasty garlic sauce; appetizers, such as the authentic Khachapuri: a delicious cheese boat, and khinkali dumplings with beef and pork, it’s hard to save room for dessert, but you should try. Their soviet style Napoleon, a multilayered puff pastry with a creamy custard filling, holds both rich flavor and history, a staple commemorating Russia’s victory against Napoleon in 1812, with symbolic elements. The garnish specifically, is meant to represent the snow that assisted the Russians’ victory.

Marathon Hong Kong Diner

A new food hall has arrived in Queens, allowing you to find endless food options in one place. If you’re unsure where to begin, Marathon Hong Kong Diner is a great place to explore. This new spot combines hong kong flavors with American classics, such as their Hong Kong style macaroni: Macaroni in tomato soup, an American comfort food, with beef and onsen egg. It doesn’t stop there, they feature burgers with bolo bun fish, a fish filled bun created through Asian fusion and add a small American touch that is beloved by all: French fries. Their snacks share the same delicious fusion, with a red bean ice drink similar to ice cream floats. However they still have Hong Kong classics such as bolo yau, a popular item that includes a warm bun with a sugary topping, served with cold butter inside, combining tasty savory and sweet flavors.
