And the noisiest street in NYC is…
Are you an Astorian who feels like dialing 311 all too often? You’re not alone: residents gave the city a piece of their mind over thousands of times last year when it came to noise in the neighborhood.
Astoria’s crown jewel? 8th Street received the top prize of noisiest street in NYC, according to Property Club NYC with approximately 2,638 complaints from January 2019-February 2020. The majority of complaints were ‘loud music/party’. Other reasons for complaint were loud noises such as pounding, and even loud television in neighboring apartments.
However, despite containing the noisiest street, overall Queens was ranked the second-quietest borough. Top honors for noisiest borough went to Brooklyn with a total of 73,744 complaints.
