Monika’s Cafe To Host 8th Annual Pajama Drive

Give Me Astoria is proud to be Co-Hosting the 8th Annual Pajama Drive this year, together with Monika’s Cafe Bar, Maria L. Delgado and Assemblywoman Aravella Simotas.

The goal of the PJ Drive is to collect as many new pajamas and books as we can, in order to benefit the children of the program. We’ve had the pleasure of covering this successful Drive for years, and we are proud to be able to help the children of our community.

The drive comes together each year because of Maria L. Delgado, organizer extraordinaire. Who has been a shining beacon in the Astoria community for years. The passion and love she puts into this worthy cause is contagious.

Which is why this years event is being held at Astoria’s very own Monika’s Cafe Bar.

Gracing us for over two decades, Monika’s has been a go to spot for many New Yorkers and celebrities alike. With cocktails, cuisine and character always on point. “We’re very happy to work with Maria and to be able to host the Pajama Drive this year. It’s all about the children, and we love the idea of helping get not only pajamas but books to them,” Robert, who manages the cafe told us, “Astoria has always had a sense of community that we appreciate being a part of, and Maria does a fantastic job in bringing people together.”

Diane Kantzogou, who is the treasurer of the Old Astoria Neighborhood Association, and helped organize the Pajama Drive is a strong advocate for pro community initiatives. Diane has always been a major supporter of all things Astoria. “Anything that has to do with children is the most important thing to me,” Diane told GMA, “and Maria’s dedication to the Pajama Drive is incredible. We are always working to bring the community together and to help in any way we can.”
