A tragic hit and run accident has left a 21-year-old girl in Astoria dead, and a family mourning.

 

Betty Jean Dibiaso, who lived right here in the neighborhood, was struck by a driver sometime around 12:30 am while crossing between Ditmars Boulevard and 19th street. Police arrived on the scene to find her unresponsive, with severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital.

 

 

There have been no arrests made – the investigation is ongoing. We urge our readers to contact the NYPD with any possible tips to find the driver that fled the scene.
