Miss America? How About Miss Queens?

Looks like Queens is getting its very own pageant!

This October, the Miss Queens Pageant will be held at Resobox in LIC – to find a young lady that represents the borough. Participants must be college aged women that attend school in either Long Island or Queens, and that exemplify the ideals of the Miss Queens pageant.

The pageant consists of different categories that women must compete in: talent, interview, onstage and swim swuit/fitness. The winner of this pageant will then go on to compete as Miss New York – and possibly as Miss America!

As quoted by the Queens Courier, The executive director of the Miss Queens Scholarship Organization said, “It’s something that the community really wanted. To have a borough that never had their own pageant, it was important to bring that to them, to let them have that sense of pride as well.”

Scholarships will also be awarded for undergraduate and graduate students – following the precedent set by the Miss America competition. To qualify, participants must raise at least $100 for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals – which are dedicated to raising funds and awareness to help enhance medical facilities and health care for sick and injured children.

The pageant will be held on Oct. 12 at RESOBOX – at 41-26 27th St. in Long Island City. If you want to enter, you have until September 30th to do so here.  If you want to watch the competition, tickets are $14 pre-sale and $14 at the door. Pre-sale tickets are available until October 10th here.
