What’s Better Than a Regular Run? A CUPCAKE RUN.

Okay, so you know how in regular runs you stop every once in a while to drink water? There’s a run in Astoria that’s just … a little different. They’ve got cupcakes instead. Oh yeah.

Here’s some info from their site: “The NYC Cupcake Run is a challenge in which participants aim to complete a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run while stopping to eat three cupcakes at checkpoints throughout the course. In a food obsessed metropolis where people are always on the run, putting together an event which pays tribute to some of the city’s defining characteristics seemed like a no-brainer.” The run will take place in Astoria Park on October 18th.

Besides being awesome and actually kind of hilarious, the run is also helping a great local organization. A portion of the proceeds will go to the New York Cares Organization – the city’s largest volunteer management organization. They run volunteer program for a whopping 1,300 nonprofits, city agencies, and public schools.
