It’s that time of year again – time for the annual National Night Out Against Crime! National Night Out is an annual summer event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watches in which precincts organize anti-crime rallies with the participation of local business and civic organizations.

The mission of the event is to inform the community about safety measures and to form a strong bond with officers from the Police Department. This will be the 31st year of the event, and it gets bigger each year.

Previous years have seen games for children, face painting, activities and. The event is free, and will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, at the War-Memorial, Astoria Park South, Shore Boulevard on Tuesday, August 5th.

The event is always super fun – especially for younger kids. It gets them involved in the community, and helps teach them about the local organizations and police department!
