Voco Astoria Hotel Welcomes You

Voco, the Latin phrase to call together, to invite. That’s the name of the charming and upscale hotel from IHG who opened their newest location in the heart of Astoria, August 12th, 2025. Located right off the 30th Ave. stop, this cozy and unstuffy hotel has eight floors, fifty rooms and views spanning from the Hell Gate Bridge to the Manhattan skyline. Though there are two other Voco locations in Manhattan, each hotel is designed to represent the neighborhood where it takes up residence, and the homage to Astoria is in the beautiful details, in every room, hallway, lobby and even the entrance before you set foot into the hotel. This was immensely important to the owners and builders at the start of the project.

One owner, Farhad Nabatkhorian says, “It’s an honor to be part of the vibrant Astoria community and contribute to its growth with a modern, welcoming space for both travelers and locals. Our goal is to bring fresh design, warm hospitality, and a touch of Queens unique spirit to every guest that walks through out doors.  Grateful to everyone who helped bring this project to life and we look forward to welcoming you at Voco Astoria.”

Before you reach the entrance, there is a mural with the words Voco Astoria mimicking a subway station sign and signaling that this is one of those hotels that goes above and beyond to make you feel right at home.  Pass through the automatic glass doors and you are greeted with a friendly smile and an even bigger mural behind the front desk. Best of all, at check in you are given a welcome treat.  Each hotel designates a specific treat for the neighborhood it’s in, and Astoria was thoughtfully given pistachio chocolate.

Aside from the fact that there’s a complimentary treat, what makes this hotel great is their commitment to sustainability. It even starts with that pistachio chocolate which is wrapped with the words, “packaging made from plants not plastic.” They also have refillable and recyclable water bottles and a water fountain which has options for hot, cold even sparkling. This is placed perfectly beside their 24 hour fitness center that has multiple machines and weights. Other wonderful amenities include a 24 hour Grab and Go Market, Luxe Frette Linen and premium Apotheke bath products which are locally sourced from Brooklyn, complimentary wifi in all rooms, and a mini fridge. If you’re the type to have your coffee in your own quiet, personal space, there’s an in room Lavazza coffee maker. Enjoy it on a plush queen bed in the early hours of the morning.  But downstairs in the lobby cafe, coffee and breakfast is served for those who want a little more action. One owner, Anton Mourtil says, “Our intention with Voco Astoria is to bring the community a premium hotel experience.  We have been building in Astoria for twenty years and noticed that a premium hotel was missing. Astoria, with its vibrant and diverse culture deserves a great hotel. We have integrated with the hotel experience an amazing restaurant that brings the cuisine of Greece which is one of the most influential cultures of Astoria.”

This lobby cafe is part of the beautifully decorated Greek restaurant Anemi, inspired by the breeze of the Aegean Sea. Their dishes are a blend of authentic and modern creativity, meant to be shared over great conversation.  They have an extensive wine list, many from Greece, and their dishes range from a raw bar with things like oysters and clams, to filet mignon and lamb.  Go for the stunning and artful decor, and stay for the saganaki and more.

Voco feels like a true extension of the neighborhood, a place to recommend friends and family who want to come visit, rather than having them book a bland hotel in the airport.  Only two miles from Laguardia, thirteen miles from JFK and twenty eight miles from EWR, it makes it an extremely convenient place to drop your bags.  Not to mention it’s located right in one of the arguably greatest boroughs, a hop skip and a jump from our great attractions like the Museum of Moving Image, Forest Hills Stadium, parks and more.  Aside from not having to work too hard to convince our traveling friends to stay here, it’s also a great place for a staycation, or a romantic getaway with a partner when you want to escape the ordinary everyday views of your NYC apartment. They even offer a Good Neighbor preferred rate for all the locals in the neighborhood. And if you or an out of town acquaintance have a furry friend? No problem, this hotel is entirely pet friendly! The perks just keep on coming.

Voco Astoria is a welcome addition to the community. And just like the root of Voco that means to invite and call together, so do we, opening our arms to this charming new hotel.
