Sip On Something Local At The Rockaway Brewing Co.

A Local Brewery Is Making Waves In Queens

While Oktoberfest may be over, grabbing a nice cold brew never goes out of style. While you might not think of Queens as a Mecca for breweries, in recent years more and more breweries have started popping up all over this borough. Tucked away in a little corner of LIC, the Rockaway Brewing Co. is a no-frills brewery that attracts locals and visitors alike mingling over a rotating menu of ten beers on tap and hyperlocal craft ciders.

The exterior brick of this establishment is ornamented with bright and eye-catching graffiti that features al fresco tables and seating during the warmer months. While in contrast, the inside features a simple yet straightforward bar with a handful of barstools. You can expect to find a great selection of everything from light pale ales to IPAs to fruited sours, like their latest release: cactus kisses—which is vibrant and intensely fruity and sour with notes of pear and pineapple.

In addition to their LIC location, the Rockaway Brewing Co. has another taproom located in, you guessed it, Rockaway Beach. While all the beers are brewed in LIC, patrons can sit and sip on their favorite IPA’s inside the 3,600-square-foot taproom by the beach. The Rockaway Brewing Co. is entirely self-funded, and while one might assume their prices would err on the side of high-end, the brewery takes pride in making a large variety of beers that everyone can enjoy for an affordable price. At $7 a beer—we’ll drink to that!
