New Kids on the Block!

Once again, we are here to introduce some more newbies to the neighborhood!

Are you ready to get your eating game on this summer?

Seva

Seva itself isn’t new, but their recently-opened second location is! It’s one of the best Indian restaurants around and you don’t want to miss out on this mouthwatering venture. Our personal go-to is their chicken tikka masala and cilantro naan, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg at Seva. What will yours be?

SVL Souvlaki

The souvlaki here is such a hit, they had to open a second location by popular demand, wedged perfectly between fellow local shops and cafes. If you’re trying to get your Greek on, this is the place to stop: affordable, delicious, and a true staple for Astorians. You can keep it on the healthier side by trying one of their soups or salads, but personally, we think you should indulge in their “build your own” deal which is topped with their to-die-for mustard aioli. And you can’t forget Greek fries on the side!

Calexico

This award-winning establishment has loyal fans throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan, and now we’re finally getting our own! The excitement is growing by the minute, especially since their opening got heavily delayed due to COVID. Now the owners are back on track and ready to hire skilled workers to run the place. Their rice bowls are outstanding, but if you want to try one of their bestsellers, go for the nachos or the chipotle pork taco. They even have a kids menu, which is a great bonus for a family outing. Get ready for a feast for your eyes (and stomach, of course).

Maggie Hall’s

This might just become your new favorite happy hour spot! Once open, they’ll serve craft beers and artisanal cocktails, and there will be a match for everyone’s taste buds. It’s in the heart of the neighborhood and promises lots of charm and fun nights out with friends, and aren’t we all ready to party it up a bit? Plus, we’re guaranteed to expect great things from this place since it’s joining the family of Judy and Punch and Madame Marie’s. Make it a sister bar-hopping night!

The Chill Spot

This place couldn’t have come at a better time – a frozen yogurt shop to get us through a hot and humid NYC summer. Their flavors are plentiful, sweet, and colorful, and go well with any of their bubble teas on the menu. Make this your next dessert destination and you’ll be sure to come back for more!

Café Renis

With a grand opening on July 24th, the owner of Max and Bratwurst has expanded his empire with this new café, and we’re in love with the set-up! It’s ultra-chic, colorful, and makes you want to hang out on their comfortable sofas for hours on end. Their sweets are delicious (hello, chocolate chip cookie), and their iced drinks are perfect for a hot summer day.

Paris Baguette

Locals love their freshly baked breads and custom-made cakes so much that the need was strong for a second location. The bakery’s debut is set for September in a prime location on 30th Avenue, inviting everyone headed to or from the subway to treat themselves to a croissant, breakfast sandwich, or a slice of cake for a delicious and comforting snack; perfect to start your morning, take a midday break, or end the afternoon with.
