The sudden and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the unfortunate closure of numerous businesses throughout the city. Hit particularly hard was the food & service industry, which was forced to rely upon delivery and takeout for nearly three months, until outdoor dining was permitted during Phase 2 of New York City’s reopening.
Estimates have indicated that approximately 4% of city restaurants have closed, and an additional 7% may be forced to close in the months to come. Unfortunately, in Astoria, 3 bar/restaurants have permanently closed following COVID-19 shutdowns. These establishments are Artopolis Bakery, Gussy’s Bar, and Monika’s Cafe-Bar.
