A potential new train line may connect Astoria to Bay Ridge: report

A $1.3 million contract was presented by the MTA to the AECOM engineering firm in order to analyze whether the construction of a train line directly connecting Bay Ridge to Astoria would work. As reported by Gothamist, this project would be the largest expansion in NYC history since World War II.

If the project gets the green light, the new train line would run for approximately 16 miles and connect to 19 subway lines, as well as the LIRR. The biggest hurdle for this proposed project is funding, as it has been estimated to cost about $1 billion.
