Truck Crashes into Residential Building

Around 7:30 p.m last night, residents were suddenly shocked by the noise of a large truck crashing into the residential building.
The crash occurred at a three story building located at 28th Street and Astoria Boulevard (right by the old Give Me Astoria offices!). The building was evacuated (lots of evacuations yesterday!) while the city’s buildings department sent investigators to examine the building’s stability.
After about two hours, the residents were allowed back in, after the building was deemed to be safe. Thankfully, there were no injuries.
Investigators are still searching for what caused the truck driver to lose control – it’s not clear yet if it was negligence, icy conditions, or something else.
