Hey – put that hot dog down right now! Yeah, it may be around that time when your healthy eating has gotten repetitive and boring, but hopefully a look around the neighborhood can help spice up your diet. Here are some of our best salad finds in Astoria that make “going green” easy.

There had to be one Greek salad on this list, and my sources (including myself) tell me this is one of the better items in the area. Enjoy a bowl with romaine lettuce, vine ripe tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, kalamata olives, stuffed grape leaves, imported greek feta, and house dressing. Price: $9.95

Among the many Amylos menu items whose descriptions will have your mouth watering, the spinach salad is truly a must-try. It’s essentially a spinach pie in salad form, made with baby spinach, crispy phyllo, Greek feta and ricotta, honey, and dill vinaigrette. Price: $16.00

The Exception: PokeWave’s Wave

I truly couldn’t tell you if poke is considered a salad, but that doesn’t make it any less delicious. I mean, this dish has lettuce, onions, cucumber, edamame, cilantro, nori strips, and spicy salmon. It’s incredible and, like me, you could totally convince yourself it’s a salad if you’re not completely sure. You can also sub anything you want in or out of your bowl. Price: $9.95
