The Bonnie: an Irish pub that stays true to its roots
A local staple for more than a decade, the Bonnie has been a go-to favorite for anyone looking to have a good time. Somehow, this pub just keeps getting better. The Bonnie recently underwent renovations to create a space that’s more fun and edgy while still maintaining its charm. The design features rustic-meets-modern touches with vibrant details and a warm neighborhood vibe. The Bonnie thrives under the direction of its owner, Ruairi Curtin, “It’s all about delicious comfort food and expertly crafted drinks served in a fun, welcoming environment.”
First thing: you’ll need a tasty beverage. There are a few popular standouts. According to Curtin, “Our cocktails are crafted with a focus on unique flavor combinations and presentation. The menu features favorites like the Dirty Pickle Martini, our Draft Spicy Margarita, and the Bonnie Spritz. Our expansive craft beer selection is a big hit.” It’s also worth asking about The Bonnie’s seasonal cocktails. You’ll want to keep up with the delectable mixes that are only there for a limited time.
Grab some food with that drink and plan to stay awhile. Curtin didn’t mince words about how the cuisine skews, “At The Bonnie, our burgers, mac and cheese, and comfort food brunch items are always crowd-pleasers, especially for hangover cures.” And some of those savory brunch items include the loaded tots, hot honey fried chicken biscuit, and the brunch burger. He went on, “Everything we serve at The Bonnie is made with care, using scratch-made recipes and locally sourced, high-quality ingredients. Our kitchen team ensures that even classic comfort foods have an elevated twist.”
There’s always plenty going on at the Bonnie, and a lot of it has to do with its beer garden. Spanning 1500 square feet, it adds a whole different dimension to the establishment. Curtin explained, “Our beer garden is one of the best in the city, and we’re proud of our events with live DJs.” The beer garden at The Bonnie also a great space to book for your next birthday party, shower, rehearsal dinner, or other private gathering.
As far as what Curtin focuses on, it’s simply welcoming everyone who comes in and letting them experience what The Bonnie has to offer. “We’ve carved out our identity by focusing on making everyone feel at home. Also check out Charlie’s, our tiny bar next door that serves great cocktails late into the night every Friday and Saturday from 7pm until late. We’d love for everyone to experience The Bonnie.”
