Welcoming Dough Doughnuts to the Neighborhood
If there is one thing we can never have enough off, it’s donuts! With that being said, may we introduce the latest addition, the famous Dough Doughnuts, opening May 22nd at 2170 31st St. Yay! Get your sweet tooth ready.
Dough Doughnut, also called Dough for short, started out in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn in 2010, and quickly became hugely popular with New Yorkers. We love our donuts! They blossomed so much that they decided to expand their business into kiosks operating from Times Square and Grand Central, which are opening again this summer, and with other store locations located in the Flatiron District, a newly opened one in Prospect Heights, and now the latest one in Astoria. They are also planning on opening a store at Rockefeller Center this summer; a huge undertaking and sign of their resilience and popularity all over.
What makes them special? Well, to start out with, their donuts are made with a brioche-style dough, which is unique and very tasty. Their most sought-after flavors include hibiscus, toasted coconut, blueberry lemon, passion fruit, and their filled Nutella donut – yum! The greatest part is the live action that you will experience when ordering your donut from them: You pick your flavor and the glaze is spread on top right at their window, where you can watch it happening as you order. Small batches are being baked throughout the day to guarantee freshness at all times, which is a key element to their success. They also accommodate custom orders, which may range from happy birthday messages to elaborate proposal ideas, all made in whatever shapes you desire.
Steve Klein, one of the owners, hopes this area of Queens will fall in love with the donuts, just as people have in other boroughs. Why they picked Astoria? Because of our close-knitted community and the vibrance of its great people. The goal is to make everyone happy with something small, but in a significant way. We know how to bond over a donut and that sense of familiarity and the growing friendships within the community is what he hopes will make people connect at his new neighborhood spot, raving of their fresh glazes and unbelievable array of flavors to choose from.
He had me at “Nutella donut”- what about you? Mark your calendar for May 22nd and let’s give it a warm and very much deserved welcome.
