Reports: Wildflower, Robert De Niro & additional partners set to purchase Astoria lot for film development studio

We may be seeing some familiar famous faces around town, as recently published articles by both The Commercial Observer and Patch report that Robert De Niro, along with his son Raphael, the Wildflower development company, and Jane Rosenthal are set to close a deal to build a film development studio.

While none of the aforementioned partners have officially confirmed the reports, the Commercial Observer suggests that the deal is expected to close by the end of the year, and the project is estimated to cost between $350-425 million. The lot in question is located at 87 19th Avenue, and would be sold by the piano manufacturer Steinway.

If reports are true, the location will serve as a film studio, as well as a pre-production office, and a post-production office, as well as parking. Here’s hoping we see a lot more of Astoria on the big screen soon!
