Toy Piano Music Festival Is Coming to Astoria

Astoria is getting a little smaller and it sounds beautiful! For the first, the UnCage Toy Piano Festival is coming to the Museum of the Moving Image. Composer and musician Phyllis Chen is no stranger to New York as she performed in Manhattan in 2007. This tiny instrument has a vast following from around the world. Chen equates the sound to innocents and a simpler time, “it sounds imperfect,” she said and she would know because she was a pianist from the delicate age of five.

To make things sound better, Chen used to live in Astoria for eight years, so, in many ways, this is a long awaited homecoming.

The festival will start on December 4th at the Museum of the Moving Image at 7pm and tickets are $15.
