If not, you’re certainly in for a treat as the acclaimed bakery has recently opened its first location in Astoria! This artisanal bakery derives inspiration from the boulangeries that can be found throughout Paris, and their pastries speak for themselves. Whether you’re in search of something savory or something sweet, The French Workshop is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. The classic croque madame is a great start to any day, complete with mozzarella and Swiss cheese, smoked turkey, and a baked egg. Looking for something a bit sweeter? Located on Steinway Street, Astoria’s newest cafe boasts beautiful decor, friendly service, and an additional option to work, relax, or simply catch up with friends over a cup of delicious coffee. Customers can expect a variety of drinks, pastries, and specialty items such as the delicious pistachio latte and saffron milk cake, to start. For more traditional coffee lovers, be sure to try Haraz’s take on the classic Americano this spring.

Teri’s Teriyaki

Fast, casual, and delicious? Count us in! Teri’s Teriyaki is now open in the center of the neighborhood, on Steinway. Serving up Japanese-style comfort food, this brand new eatery is especially known for its signature chicken dishes. Menu items include specialty bowls made to order, tempura, and a variety of sides including gyoza, spring rolls, and much more. Chicken isn’t the only thing on this menu, though, as the restaurant also presents its customers with salmon, and even vegetarian-friendly tofu options. Pair your food with any of Teri Teriyaki’s refreshing lemonades or teas and be prepared for the ideal meal this May!

Tucked away on 35th Street and 31st Avenue, Unmei prides itself on being the first Taiwanese-style dumpling house in the neighborhood. Customers can expect a variety of traditional dishes, such as their signature dumplings, in addition to wonton soups, gua bao (Taiwanese-style sandwiches), and smaller side dishes such as popcorn chicken, sweet potato fries, and more. The must-try menu item on your first visit has to be the pork xiao long bao, also known as soup dumplings, filled with tasty pork, scallions, ginger, soy sauce and some sesame oil.
