UPDATE: False Alarm – Bomb Threat Shuts Down Broadway

UPDATE: Sunday afternoon a false bomb threat was called in to the NYPD who responded 20 minutes later, according to witnesses. The alleged “bomb” was found to be a wireless system that was set up in an old phone booth. The system would have usually been covered up, however was not. The bomb squad responded and took the battery hook up away without incident, according to the New York Daily News.

Original Post: A bomb threat was called in Sunday evening. Police responded by evacuating the area of Broadway between 32nd Street and 31st Street.

Residents quickly took to Instagram with video and images as they happened. The threat came from a couple of car batteries that were placed behind the glass panel of a phone booth, according to witnesses. Police and FDNY immediately shut down and investigated however a few hours later cleared the area.
