Eternity and History: The Cinema of Theo Angelopoulos At Moving Image

From the Museum of the Moving Image, comes a retrospective look into the cinematic works of one of the masters of cinema, Theo Angelopoulos. One of the most prominent figures to come out of Greece in the 70’s, Angelopoulos emerged onto the directing platform with a unique style which focused on specific choreographed compositions and tracking shots. He was the leading director of the movement which showcased the brilliance of international art cinema and his name has been put next to the likes of Andrei Tarkovsky, Bernardo Bertolucci and Wim Wenders.

And now with so many trends, the youth of today are taking a step back and realizing the futuristic genius of Angelopoulos, and the mainstream ideas his works hold more true perhaps now than in the time of their release.

This is what the Museum of the Moving Image will be focusing on, with you, the viewer, along for the ride. Sit back and observe a trusted cinematic eye as Moving Image showcases some of Angelopoulos’ many artistic pleasures such as; The Hunters, Days of ’36, The Beekeeper and more.
