Astoria’s Hellenic Community To Build 6 Story Mixed use Building

An application from the Hellenic Orthodox Community of Astoria has recently been filed proposing to develop a six story mixed use building in an empty lot on 31st Street, right opposite of the Demetrios Cathedral.

The 10 unit building will have 3,223 square feet of ground floor space. The space will most likely be used by the Orthodox community as an educational facility.

The floors above, from two to six, will each have two residential units. The units will average at about 801 square feet and will be rented out. The building will sit at a pretty good location, with the elevated N/Q subway line only half a block up, along with the Q102 bus line. It’s also within walking distance to the bustling 30th Avenue.

With recent development projects becoming more frequent, this is one project that stands out for a few reasons. One being that it is a community development. The Hellenic Orthodox Community has been heavily involved in Astoria for many years. The new space offering educational services will no doubt help residents within the area.
